👋🏽 Welcome to The Folklore, our weekly newsletter where we talk about our journey of building Folklory, a startup that helps you turn family memories into podcasts. We’ll share weekly updates, wins, and learnings, so sign up if you want to hear from us.
Over the last week, one of the big things we’ve been doing is talking to customers. The goal has been to understand why they buy, what they like the most and least, and use that feedback to improve. Since these chats happen after we’ve completed and delivered their Folklories, we also get to hear what happened when they shared it with others. We had one particular story this week, that was very powerful and reminded us how impactful Folklory can be.
✨ A record of Friendship
I want to leave behind a record of my friendship with these ladies, who have been my closest friends for over 20+ years
That was the brief we received from the customer and we completed their Folklory earlier in the year. Last week we caught up with them for a feedback chat this week. We learned that they found Folklory a “very unique gift” and that even though they could’ve done it themselves, it would have lacked the “professional touch”. They liked the “way the interview was conducted” and even their friends found it “very smooth”. We also learned that their friends “all listened to it separately but teared up”.
This story was unlike the other Folklories we’ve recorded, but hearing what our customers had to share, really made us feel that the work we’re doing has a place in all kinds of situations.
💌 A special gift for Valentine's
We ran a campaign for Valentine’s day for people to get a Folklory as a gift for their partner. Our customers have called Folklory "one of the more meaningful" and "intimate gifts" and we think it's a great way to show your love and appreciation to your partner. The Vent Machine also wrote about us and how people could use Folklory as a Valentine’s Day present.
If you’re one of those couples who say “Every day is Valentine’s Day” and are still looking to do something special for your partner, here are some ideas on how you could use Folklory:
Record the story of meeting your partner, and what you thought about them during the early days.
Take a moment to look back at your relationship and share things you value about your partner.
💯 Crossing 100
Last week while doing a quick check on the numbers, we realized that we had crossed 100 Folklories! There’s still a long way to go but we had a brief moment of pride to see how far we’ve come. We’re really grateful to all those who gave us a chance and trusted us with their stories and if you’re one of them - Thank you 🙏
Until next time,
Haresh
