Over the past week, we’ve been getting ready for our first conference where we’ll be speaking as well as presenting a booth. In today’s newsletter, we’ll share more about the event, the prep, and what we hope to achieve.
Let’s dive in!
The Event
The event is called Technology For Marketing Asia, part of the larger Tech Week Asia, and is happening on the 11th-12th of October in Singapore. Just Like any conference, it’s a bunch of talks, panels discussions, and exhibitors. Last year the event had over 22,000 attendees - so a pretty big deal! Entry is free and open to anyone, so if you’d like to drop by, you can sign up here
"YOU DID WHAT?!"
Haresh and Terence will be speaking at the event about why audio stories from employees could be the best thing for a company. Here’s the brief of the talk -
"Company culture", "authenticity" & "storytelling" are common buzzwords. But what do they mean? And how can you use them in your marketing without it being forced or feeling fake?
Join us as we share our learnings from building Folklory.com, a service that started off with us interviewing loved ones to capture memories as private podcasts. A year in, we've realised that audio stories are even more important for companies!
We'll explain why such stories can bring depth and soul to your brand that'll help you stand out from your competitors, by focusing on the one thing that makes your company unique - the people behind it.
Given the large number of companies that will be attending, our goal for the event is to share more about how Folklory can help build closer and stronger teams - similar to what we’ve done with MCBS and some other companies we’re working with right now. Hopefully, we can find a few more that are interested in working with us.
📢🚨🎙️ We’re speaking on 11th October 2023, 14:15– 14:35 🎙️🚨📢
Recording Folklories
Apart from speaking, we’re also doing live Folklories with a bunch of other speakers at the event. Since the conference will be pretty noisy, we managed to get a 2-seater Instapod to do all the recordings in. We also want to do a few “walk-in” Folklories for anyone who is interested but we want to decide on a single theme so people can quickly understand what the Folklory will be about.
Homework
This is the first time we’re doing an event like this, and because we’re both speaking and setting up a booth, we’ve had a bunch of homework to do -
Sourcing furniture for the booth 🪑
Designing and printing Banners, Brochures, and Business cards 🗺️
Planning logistics to set up the booth 🚚
Preparing material for our talk 🗣️
Reaching to people we want to meet during to event (probably the most important if we hope to get customers from this event) 💬
What does success look like?
While we’re super excited about the event, we’re going in with low expectations as we’ve never done this before. We’re quite curious about whether events like this can become an effective channel to reach new customers, especially companies. In the spirit of setting lofty goals, if we can get 50 interested leads, 10 trials, and 3 paying customers - that’d be a success 🏆.
Until next time,
The Folklory Team
